Over the course of them semester I learned a lot about
conflict and how to deal with it. My favorite concept that we learned would be
the S-TLC system. I believe it to be a great system and method of steps to take
in order to deal with conflicts. I also learned how to avoid conflicts that
might occur. Conflicts will always happen in life. It is best to know and
understand how to deal with them in a way that everyone would be happy. Also it
good to know how to deal with conflicts I different situations. As always when conflicts become too hard to
handle, knowing that you can reach out to a mediator to help you is a good
thing to know. They can help you solve big conflicts instead of having to spend
lots of money going to court over things.
I am thankful for all of the tactics that I have learned when dealing
with conflicts. This class was extremely helpful in providing tools for future
conflicts that could arise.

Week 16 D-1 Conflict views
I believe that people have such negative views of conflict because
they don’t like to handle conflicts and they also don’t know to handle conflict
the right way. I think that if people
knew how to deal with conflicts in a matter that would make them happy then
they wouldn’t have such negative view on it. Some people are stubborn and they don’t
like to admit to being wrong, so that can make the conflict worse off than it
needs to be. I know that I am not as afraid of conflict as I once was after
taking this class. I know how to deal with certain situations more and how to
explain/teach conflict concepts to others, so that they will learn how to
manage their conflicts better. I do think that as people know more about
conflicts, they fear it less. Once you
learn more about it, then you can better manage it and not be so afraid of conflicts.
So I would have to agree with that statement that when knowing more about conflicts,
you fear it less. Learning more about conflicts
also helps you steer clear from them too.

Week 16 D1 Class eval
This class overall was great! I really enjoyed everything in
it and I learned a lot. Conflict will always happen so it is good to know how
to deal with certain situations. I enjoyed doing the conflict workshop project.
I think it really helped learn the concepts in more details. I also learned
more about how to deal and teach conflicts to children since that was my focus
area. The project was also really fun to do and helpful. The discussions also
really helped in learning more about the concepts as well. Commenting on our
classmates blogs were helpful in seeing their view points. There wasn’t any
weaknesses that I can think of off the top of my head. The teacher was always
willing and able to help. The content of the class was sufficient to learn in
details about conflicts. I would definitely
recommend this class to other students since you learn about conflict and it
helps with everyday ordeals.

Week 11 D3
One concept that I found interesting this week was, Displaced conflict. This is when a person
directs a conflict towards the wrong person, and in turns then avoids a
confrontation with the appropriate person.
Usually the person that your trying to avoid is someone that you don’t
want to offend and so you direct the conflict to a “safe” person that you feel
comfortable discussing it with. The book
gives an example of a guy who is angry
at his boss and comes home to his wife and kids and abuse them with his
anger. I would have to say that the
example in the book is something that I have seen firsthand. My dad would sometimes do that as well after
a long frustrating day at work. Or I have seen my brother get made with me for
something that his girlfriend did instead. I believe that displaced conflict
happens more that one may think because it does seem to be “safer” to get made
with someone else that you feel comfortable with then the actual person
creating the conflict.

week 11 D2
I will admit that I have made false attributions. I believe
that every does at one point or another. The last time was actually just this
week. I had made plans with friends for Halloween on this past Sunday and I had
thought that everything was still set. I was texting my friend that morning
about other things besides our plans for the evening. She hadn’t said anything
about them to be either so I assumed that it was still going on. Turns out they
bailed and we made other plans instead. Later that night after they found out
that we were upset with them for bailing they tried to play it off that they
couldn’t get ahold of us which wasn’t the case.
This made the conflict worse, but in the end I just blew it off instead
of being mad about it. I think that I
have made accurate attributions before that have ended up helping me. The last time I believe I did this was when I
had work, and wanted to go to a concert instead and didn’t no how to cancel on
babysitting. The family has been flakey at times and I had a feeling that they
were going to end up canceling anyways and I wouldn’t have to be the one to do
it. It was down to about an hour before I needed to leave and I still hadn’t
heard anything from them, so I figured I might as well just get ready for the
concert and hope for the best. Then after I was done getting ready, sure enough
they called and canceled on me. So I went to the concert instead. This accurate
attribution might not be a typical one, but it made it so that I ended up being
able to have fun instead of looking like the bad guy and canceling on work.

Week 11 D-1
After doing research on the terms forgiveness,
reconciliation and revenge, I found different types of sites for each. I used
google and when I put in Forgiveness I found a few psychology sites, a doctor
site, and a couple of links to some music videos. It came up with about
55million results. Next I searched reconciliation and found, mostly sites
giving the definition of it. It came back with about 52million results. There
was also one movie hit site for it as well. The last term was revenge and that
came back with about 264million results.
Most of the sites were about the ABC sitcom show Revenge. There were some links to watch clips of the
show and just a bunch of sites about the show.
Revenge produced the most about of results. They were mostly about the
show instead of the term revenge. I think that if a person were to have
searched the term Revenge before the show first aired, then the results would
have been different and more results might have came back having to do with
what revenge is. Since that show is so popular, it makes sense that most of the
results were based on that show.
